Laars Mascot FT MFTCW199 High Efficiency Fire Tube Combi Boiler

We installed this unit almost two years ago as a replacement for a Trinity boiler that failed. The installation was a breeze except that the plastic adapter for the intake was cracked when we were mounting the boiler: our fault, it hit a floor joist as we lifted it into place. I called the number in the installation manual and explained that it was an installation SNAFU that damaged the unit and I would pay the cost of the part and shipping: the CS rep said, "Why don't I just send you the new part." I said OK; two days later the part arrived; we were glad because it was in the low 20's outside and in the 50's inside (temporary electric space heaters). The unit is nearly silent at low output and a little louder at full output. It has performed flawlessly through two of the most brutal winters on record, 3 weeks of high temperatures below zero and regularly into the negative double digits at night. The savings from the Trinity unit and this one are minimal; the Trinity was also a high efficiency design. I am most happy about the DHW because I can take nice long HOT showers!
